Justice Premashankar appointed to Court of Appeal

 

Justice A. Premashankar sworn in as Justice to Court of Appeal in front of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake today. 

Trincomalee High Court Judge Annalingam Premashankar was among the three new Court of Appeal Justices who were formally sworn in before President Anura Kumara Disanayake today (11) at the Presidential Secretariat. 

Along with him, the appointments were conferred upon High Court Judges W.K.S.U. Premachandra and K. Priyantha Fernando as well. 

Justice Premashankar served as Magistrate and later District Judge in Jaffna, Mannar, Kilinochchi and Vavuniya during his 28 years long legal career. 

Born in Thunnalai, Vadamarachchi, Justice Premashankar completed his primary education at Thunnalai Roman Catholic school and followed higher studies at Point Pedro Hartley College and Bambalapitiya Hindu College. He is also an alumni of Colombo Royal College as well.

 

His judgement and the way the judicial investigations were conducted on the notorious Mirusuvil massacre where eight civilians including a child were killed saw appreciation from the Supreme Court when the Appeal petition moved by convicted military personnel was heard recently.
