The Consulate General of India in Jaffna launched a Hindi language course at the University of Vavuniya last Saturday (30). The course was inaugurated jointly by Indian Consul General Sai Murali and Vice Chancellor of Vavuniya University, Prof. Atputharajah.
The university has called for applications to follow three month learning Hindi programme at the university starting in April in collaboration with Consulate General of India. The course is scheduled to commence from April.
Earlier, the Consulate General office also assisted to conduct Hindi classes at Jaffna Hindu College for students who are willing to learn in 2022 despite criticism from certain circles from the society. Current students and old boys can attend classes to gain fluency in the language,
This was the first time Hindi language classes were held in a leading school in the Northern region. (Northeastern Monitor/ March 31/2025)
