Final report of Presidential Commission on Enforced Disappearances also missing: Minister

 The final report of Presidential Commission to Investigate into Complaints of Missing Persons (PCICMP) which was setupped in 2015 under Good Governance government is also went missing, Cabinet Spokesperson and Minister of Health Dr. Nalinda Jeyatissa said. 


The previous government spent Rs 14.4 million for the expenses of the Commission proceedings but the final report also went missing, the Minister said. 


By September 10, 2015 the Presidential Commission to Investigate into Complaints of Missing Persons (PCICMP) received some 18,099 civilian complaints and an additional 5,000 cases of missing armed forces personnel.


It is estimated that at least 65,000 complaints related to enforced disappearances cases have been filed before various Presidential Commissions and Court of Inquiry in recent decades. (Northeastern Monitor/ March 1/2025)
