Navy personnel attached to the Northern Naval Command seized one kilogram of heroin in the Kaddiakaadu shore, Vadamaracchchi yesterday during the patrolling activities (7).
The drug parcel was wrapped in polythene bags and found near the beach during Navy search operations.
According to the Navy, the Navy stepped up its patrolling activities in recent months to prevent drug smuggling activities in the region from India. The seized drug consignment is handed over to Vettrilaikerni police to carry out further investigations.
