Leader of Ilankai Thamil Arasu Katchchi (ITAK) Mavai Senthirajah stepped down from the post with immediate effect from yesterday.
The former MP wrote to party Secretary and new President S. Shritharan yesterday informing his decision to resign from all the responsibilities he held including leadership post.
He also urged new President Shritharan to assume duties at earliest and lead the party amidst challenges ahead of upcoming November 14 Parliamentary polls.
Mr Senathirajah continued in his post as the election of ITAK leadership was challenged in the court recently and the case is pending. (Northeastern Monitor/October 8/2024)
