The Assassinated Tamil journalist Mylvaganam Nimalrajan was remembered on his 24th death anniversary at Vadamarachchi Media House by fellow journalists on Saturday in Jaffna.
The event was chaired by senior Tamil journalist S. Thillainathan who recalled his experience of working with the late Nimalarajan during the war period as a correspondent from Jaffna.
Late Nirmalarajan was assassinated on October 19, 2000, at his residence in Jaffna town by a paramilitary group that worked closely with Security forces at that time. He was then a staff journalist attached to the Jaffna-based Tamil weekly Uthayan newspaper.
His killers are yet to be brought before justice as the suspects left the country while on bail years ago and the case was dropped by the Attorney General's department later citing lack of evidence. (Northeastern Monitor/October 20/2024)
