Final preparations are underway to hold the Presidential elections tomorrow to elect the ninth Executive President of the country.
Earlier today, ballot boxes were transported to respective polling centres with additional police security.
In the Jaffna district where 492,280 persons are eligible to vote, 511 polling stations are setupped. Arrangements were also taken to transport ballot boxes to the Northern islands- Delft, Nainathivu, Analaithivu and Eluvaithivu as well.
Along with election monitors attached to local election watchdogs, international election monitors were also seen monitoring election activities in the two provinces.
The voting process is to commence at 7 a.m. tomorrow and will be underway till 4 p.m. For tomorrow’s polls, 17,140,354 eligible voters will be eligible to cast their votes to elect the President among 39 candidates. (Pix by N.Lohathayalan and Theva Athiran)
