Kilinochchi School teachers summoned by TID over decoration of annual sports event

Teachers attached to Konavil Tamil Maha Vidyalayam, Kilinochchi have been summoned before the Terrorism Investigation Department of Police (TID) over the decoration of the school's annual sports meet event which was held recently. 

Deputy Leader of Ceylon Teacher's Union Theepan Thileesan told the reporters that a letter summoning school teachers involved in the decoration at the sports event was sent by TID directing them to appear before its regional branch located in Kumarapuram, Paranthan today (August 8). 

However, the Union representative said that the Union took up the matter with relevant senior officials including Northern Governor over the issue and instructed that teachers are not required to appear before the TID. 

"Our Union leader Joseph Stalin raised the issue with government officials that this is an attempt of intimidating schools teachers and similar incidents of looking at both schools students and teachers through suspicionary lense should be stopped as well," the Union representative said.
