President Ranil Wickremesinghe has invited representatives of Tamil National Common Framework (Thamil Thesiya Pothuk Kaddamaipu) for talks tomorrow after the outfit announced a Tamil Common candidate on Thursday.
While Tamil National Common Framework will not take part in the talks as a whole, leaders of Tamil political parties represented in the Framework namely Selvam Adaikalanathan of Tamil Eelam Liberation Organisation (TELO), C.V. Wigneswaran of the Tamil Makkal Kootani, D. Siddarthan of the People’s Liberation Organisation of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE) and N. Srikantha of the Tamil Nationalist Party are scheduled to take part in the talks at the Presidential Secretariat tomorrow.
They were contacted by officials attached to the Presidential Secretariat yesterday to confirm their participation at the Secretariat in Colombo.
Meanwhile, Suresh Premachandran of the Eelam People’s Revolutionary Liberation Front (EPRLF) and Tamil People’s Assembly (Thamil Makkal Pothuchchabai) wrote to President Wickremesinghe today seeking information related to subjects that are intended for discussion to be shared in advance.
"This will allow us to evaluate them and make an informed decision about our participation. Thank you once again for your kind invitation. We look forward to hearing from you soon," the letter reads. (Northeastern Monitor/ August 11/2024)
