Lawyer arrested over fraud in Jaffna

An Attorney at Law from Uduvil, Jaffna was taken into custody today over a fraud incident of facilitating divorce case by supplying false identification documents. 

Crime Unit of Jaffna police arrested the lawyer and produced before Chavakachcheri Magistrate Court. He was granted bail under two personal sureties of Rs 1 million each.

The Court also ordered to seize three computers in the office of the lawyer as well. 

The Court was told that a Jaffna origin- married individual who returned from Italy recently came to know that he had already obtained divorce from his partner when he went to apply for separation. (Northeastern Monitor/ July 24,2024)
