Consecration of bell tower at Mandaitivu Mukappuvayal Subramaniar temple

Hundreds of Hindu devotees from Mandaitivu took part in Kumbhabhishekam- consecration ceremony of  Mukappuvayal Subramaniar temple held yesterday (July 12).

Along with locals, devotees from diaspora and from those spread across the main Jaffna peninsula participated in the holy religious ceremony of Lord Murugan, held once in every twelve years. Dozens of Hindu priests performed abhishekam-sanctification with spiritually charged water to consecrate new shrines of the temple.

The temple was renovated with its Karpakirakam and Moolasthanam being built entirely of granite stones, giving a fresh look to Lord Skanda’s shrine blessing his devotees in the village of Mandaitivu.

With both local and diaspora based devotees attending the religious poojas with devotion, the holy ceremony was held under the purview of Temple Trustee K. Pothikaichelvan and his family. (Pix by S. Rubatheesan)
